Temple Israel of Natick, a vibrant Conservative synagogue located 20 miles west of Boston, is seeking a Director of K-12 Learning who is a life-long learner and community builder: an innovator who embraces the Temple’s educational vision by incorporating creativity, experiential learning, and ruach! The Director will collaborate with our clergy and staff, under the supervision of the Vice President of Education, to create an arc of Jewish engagement and learning that guides students and families as they transition from preschool through high school.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
• Refinement and further development of the scope and sequence of existing Religious School curricula to reflect the educational vision of Temple Israel of Natick.
• Establish yearly curricular goals for students and setting a cycle of reflection and curriculum refinement.
• Create an inclusive educational environment that meets the needs of all learners.
• Maintain clear, consistent, ongoing communication with students, parents, religious school faculty, and the greater Temple Israel community.
• Recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and evaluation of religious school staff.
• Foster and implement opportunities for professional development of educators.
• Develop programs to support family education objectives.
• Collaborate with staff and clergy to plan and implement Family Programming throughout the year.
• Work closely with the Director of Early Learning to develop educational programs and Judaic content for young families and transition children from the PreK program to our religious school.
• Collaborate with staff and clergy to plan youth worship experiences throughout the year, including regular Shabbat programs and special High Holiday programming.
• Develop opportunities for teen engagement and education.
• Supervise and cultivate Madrichim Program for grades 8 through high school.
• Partner with Youth Programming Coordinator to further develop formal and informal educational opportunities for teens.
• Assume administrative responsibilities for the operation of the Religious School
• Plan and work within budget for program operations.
• Promote the religious school through the development of outreach and programs.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Master’s Degree in education, educational administration, Jewish education and/or Jewish studies preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in secular/Judaic education, including classroom and administration.
• Knowledge of contemporary best practices and experience and knowledge of developmental pedagogy, classroom management and engagement.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Jewish beliefs and a commitment to Jewish education, practices and values.
• An understanding of how technology can enhance instructional strategies as well as support the management of the school.
• Commitment to Israel education and fostering connections with the state of Israel
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This is a full time year-round position that requires some evening, Shabbat and holidays; weekend work; and on-site presence during the work week.
